Trans and gender diverse folx are here! We are more and more visible in our lives, the media, the world, and the lives of people in our communities. And, after years of omission from HIV trials, people are beginning to awaken to the reality that trans-inclusive and trans-centered research is necessary to address matters specific to our communities, in all our diversity, resistance, and fabulousness.

Thus, AVAC and partners developed the No Data No More Manifesto to Align HIV Prevention Research with Trans and Gender Diverse Realities. The Manifesto details a comprehensive HIV research agenda that addresses gaps such as hormone-drug interactions, recruitment, language, and HIV incidence data, etc., along with visions for enabling social and structural changes.

In addition, this webinar is the debut release of the Scorecard for Trans-Inclusive Research, charting the representation of trans people in milestone HIV clinical trials of the past and present, to be used as a check-list for both advocates and researchers to pave the way for meaningful representation in HIV research of the future.

Speakers include:

  • Leigh Ann van der Merwe – Social, Health & Empowerment Feminist Collective of Transgender Women of Africa
  • Cindra Feuer – AVAC Senior Program Manager: Partnerships & Capacity Strengthening
  • Brian Minalga – AVAC consultant, Trans Inclusion Initiative
